A forgotten or undiscovered pleasure? Unleash your artistic streak and experience the pure satisfaction that comes from creating something with your own fair hands. Whether you’re a complete beginner or ready to build on your artistic confidence, our warm and welcoming art classes for adults are the perfect place to start.

If you’ve been longing to try something new in a friendly supportive environment surrounded by people who share your love of learning, The Thirsty Learner could be just what you’re looking for in 2026.
Our classes focus on helping you explore different drawing techniques, discover your own style, and rekindle that spark of imagination you might not have realised you’d missed. With gentle guidance and plenty of encouragement, you’ll grow your skills week by week - and before long, you might even feel like your inner Picasso has been set free!
Our creative space is something special: inspiring, relaxed, and full of warmth. It’s the kind of place you’ll look forward to returning to every week - a space to unwind, recharge, and share laughter with fellow art lovers. The new skills you learn will stay with you for life - you’ll never stroll along the coast or wander the Dales again without your sketchbook close by!
Every class with The Thirsty Learner also helps to make a difference. Alongside nurturing your creativity, your participation supports a local charitable cause through Gifted Smile, an initiative founded by our very own Lisa. Gifted Smile provides comfort to individuals facing cancer by offering Hug in a Bag gifts or Special Treats that bring a little light to those going through a difficult time.
With each course, The Thirsty Learner quietly offers a complimentary place to someone affected by cancer - giving them the chance to relax and rediscover a little joy through creativity. Looking ahead, we hope to collaborate with our learners to create unique artworks that we might turn into calendars or other merchandise. None of this is obligatory, but for those who would like to participate, all the proceeds will go to the 2 charities supported by Gifted Smile. It’s this sense of shared purpose that makes The Thirsty Learner truly unique - a community of people eager to learn, connect, and give back. (Find out more at www.giftedsmile.org )
We want every class to feel more like a mini retreat than just a lesson - a few peaceful hours where you can switch off from daily life, express yourself, and leave feeling refreshed and inspired.
Set in the charming Harewood Village Hall, surrounded by unspoilt Yorkshire countryside and protected parkland, our venue offers the perfect backdrop to let creativity flow, and accommodate both indoor and outdoor classes when the weather permits. With Muddy Boots Café right next door, you can make a real day of it - enjoy lunch or a coffee with your fellow artists before or after class, all in a cosy, stylish setting. There’s parking, easy access, and a warm welcome waiting for you.
All materials are provided and included in the course price - we pride ourselves on using only high-quality supplies to help you get the very best results. Everything will be ready for you when you arrive - just bring yourself and your enthusiasm.
Classes are booked in advance and paid for in 12-week blocks to guarantee your place and help us plan thoughtfully. To secure your spot, simply book online or get in touch - we can’t wait to welcome you to The Thirsty Learner family.
