Embracing change: The evolution of the Retreat Skin Clinic in Boston Spa

For three decades, The Retreat skin clinic(formally The Spa lounge) in Boston Spa has been a haven for those seeking professional skincare and rejuvenation.

Established as a beauty salon in1994, the clinic has been a fixture in the community, offering a range of treatments and products to enhance and restore skin health. As the seasons change, so too does The Retreat, with exciting developments on the horizon.

A notable shift is on the horizon as Lynn, the current owner, prepares to retire in the spring of 2024. Lynn has been the driving force behind The Retreat’s success, and her departure marks the end of an era. However, the clinic is poised for a seamless transition with the introduction of Dr Jaskaren Midha, a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience as a dentist and a decade in the field of medical aesthetics.

Dr Midha, the owner of MediGlow, brings a fresh but mature and gentle approach to The Retreat. She is a brand ambassador for PCA Skin, adding to the clinic’s repertoire of trusted cosmeceutical skincare brands, including Neostrata and Exuviance. The clinic will continue to offer a diverse range of treatments, from the renowned All Skin Med Microneedling to the celebrity favourite Hydrafacial and the Elos Plus Radiofrequency skin tightening.

A notable addition for the future will be for The Retreat to introduce introduction of the French brand Guinot, renowned for its Hydradermie facials. In addition, Dr Midha is particularly excited to bring forth innovative treatments like 3D fat cavitation and HIFU.

Hifu, or High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, is a non-invasive procedure that stimulates collagen production, resulting in firmer, lifted skin. The 3D Hifu takes this technology to the next level, providing even more precision in targeting specific areas. Excited by the new challenges ahead Dr Jas , (as she is known) is keen to reassure everyone that The Retreat will continue to operate seamlessly. She encourages open conversations and welcomes any ideas that clients may have to enhance their experience.

As winter approaches, Dr Jas offers valuable tips for maintaining healthy skin in the colder months: Protection is Key: Prioritize a robust skincare routine, incorporating peptides or ceramides to fortify the skin barrier. Products like Neostrata Cellular Restoration, priced at £65.00, offer a potent blend of ingredients.

Disciplined Night time routine: Take advantage of the body’s natural repair processes during sleep by following a good night-time routine. Use products containing AHA’s and PHA’s for gentle exfoliation and repair and follow with a rich moisturiser or balm containing peptides.

Avoid Over-Exfoliation: With the skin already sensitized by external factors, opt for gentle exfoliation. Consider incorporating a cleanser containing AHA once or twice a week instead of aggressive scrubs.

Antioxidant Boost: Integrate a serum with antioxidants or vitamin C to protect the skin from damage. Dr Midha recommends an Antioxidant Defence Serum like Intensive Renewal Neostrata

Vitamin D Supplements: Combat skin inflammation and maintain skin health and suppleness.

Winter SPF: Don’t neglect sun protection even in winter; UV rays can still cause damage.

Balanced Diet: Adapt your diet to the season, focusing on increased fruit and vegetable intake. Incorporate “gut feeders” like seeds and nuts for improved metabolism.

Hydration: Counteract the dehydrating effects of alcohol by rehydrating the next day. Water is essential for new cell growth. As The Retreat embarks on this exciting journey of evolution, the commitment to holistic experience remains unwavering.

Dr Midha’s wealth of experience and passion for excellence ensures that The Retreat will continue to be a trusted destination for skincare and rejuvenation in Boston Spa and beyond.
